Eugene Architect John E. Stafford began his practice in 1945. Over the next 42 years, he designed numerous residences, churches, commercial, and public buildings. He created the master plan for the Lane County Fairgrounds and designed many of its buildings. His firm Stafford Morin and Longwood won the 1961 competition to design the Eugene City Hall. He was a graduate of the University of Oregon’s School of Architecture and Allied Arts, where served as a design instructor for several years. He was a founding member of the Architects Collaborative, a group of volunteers who created the plan for Eugene’s Civic Center. His son Jonathan Stafford later became partner at the firm, and continued the practice well into the 21st century.
